The distinctive red and white top of the Andros Lighthouse

The Andros Lighthouse marks the southernmost entrance of the Fresh Creek channel. Rusty cannons from the wrecked schooner “Cottsac” were added in 1952 and the red and white striped tower was added to the top. The shipwreck is still visible from the beach.
The lighthouse is in a rocky area so care should be taken when visiting it. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Built in 1892, the cannons at its feet were added from the wreck of a schooner which sank off the island’s rocks in the 1800s
